Problem

The Epson printer is stuck while booting up and shows the message "Set Jig". This can happen for a variety of reasons, mostly because a firmware update failed.

Solution/Work around

Trying to revert the firmware update or reinstall it does not work. One can only reset the printer manually but this has a caveat as the printer will go back to the "Set Jig" message once it is restarted. So I mostly dont shut the printer down.

The manual reset is explained in this video. Steps:

  1. shut the printer off
  2. restart by holding power and home button (~5s)
  3. selet option 4: "Normal Mode"
  4. go to "gear" symbol
  5. select option 2
  6. select option 4: "Language"
  7. choose your language
